Dog Problems?
Here’s help!
Does your pooch have a terrible habit of eating their feces? This really is extremely popular for dogs, but you can find things that you’ll be able to do to right their behavior.
1. Train your pet the “come” command, for specific times when you prefer to roam him off-lead. Responsible obedience and the “appear” command tends to make off-lead strolls a real satisfaction (and it’s a lot far more safe for your pet, additionally – the practicality of “come” relates to other things enjoy herbicide, snail fishing lure, and broken bottles as well as dog poop!). Don’t forget, in Most areas it is obligatory to scoop your canines’s “poop”. Therefore, be sure to conform to the laws in your location.
2. Booby-trapping the poop in the lawn with things equivalent to: Hot sauce and lemon juice. Doing so appears enjoy a great deal of (somewhat stinky) effort to go to once you can just pick up the poop. Also to the natural deterrent of having to time and once more deal with specimens of doggy poop, reports of triumph from this strategy are pretty irregular – in almost all cases, it looks as if that a canine intent on coprophagia isn’t heading to be turned-off by a momentary red-hot feeling in his mouth. – There are substances one can buy from online and veterinarian offices which, when put into the dog’s food (or the super food of the home dog whose poop he’s eating) helps make the poop odor and taste quite displeasing to dogs. One those product is named “Deter”. – It is easy to experiment with such as natural deterrents – like a bride and groom tablespoonfuls of canned pumpkin or pineapple, or raw, minced zucchini – to your doggy’s meals. After much more, unscientific proof shows that the majority of canines could readily eat these “creations”, having said that that their existence in poop tends to make it unappetizing.
3. A attribute of the dog conduct trouble is which the poop is available for the doggy to eat. Therefore, scoop up the poop in your own backyard as soon as the canines expels. If he does not have get in touch with to it, he can’t eat the dog poop – and it should conserve you from putting up with the flies, the odor, and the chance of another person strolling in it.
The preferred technique to fix doing so dog behavior difficulty to keep your canine from eating poop is frankly…PICKING UP THE POOP! Because if it isn’t there…it can’t be eaten!
A northeast dog treat business that launched in April 2010 saves and improves the lives of thousands of neglected animals by giving half of its profits from the sale of its healthy, human-grade treats to numerous community animal welfare charities in MA, NH, NY, IL and GA.
Marblehead, MA (PRWEB) March 23, 2011
Goodness Gracious LLC (http://www.GoodnessGraciousTreats.com), a US manufacturer of healthy dog treats and supplies, announced recently that after just nine months of being in business, it donated thousands of dollars to community animal shelters and rescue organizations in 2010. Goodness Gracious, which earmarks 51 percent of its profits for animal shelters and rescues in locations where its products are sold, pays a portion of it up front for each new retailer that carries its products. The Company also recently announced that it is boosting its contributions in 2011 by donating $2 off the top of every item sold through its website to non-profit animal welfare charities.
Animal shelters and rescues in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Chicago and Georgia benefited from Goodness Gracious last year. And the Company is looking to expand that reach through key partnerships with distributors and retail stores in 2011 and online sales.
“We are thrilled to be able to save and improve the lives of animals in need, and we have our loyal customers to thank,” said Amy Renz, Managing Director. “Our 2010 donations were enough to rescue, feed and vaccinate thousands of companion animals. And 2011 is already looking brighter for many more. Through our current partnerships with key distributors we are now reaching over 1000 retail outlets across 10 states. Our donations and our growth are remarkable, especially considering we launched our business just a year ago.” Renz continued.
Audrey’s Pet Supply and Services (http://www.audreysboston.com), an upscale pet supply store on Newbury Street in Boston, is one of those loyal retailers committed to animal welfare. They sell Goodness Gracious treats and have chosen the Animal Rescue League of Boston (http://www.arlboston.org) as the charity they want Goodness Gracious to support.
“Working with Goodness Gracious has been such an amazing experience not only for me as a store owner but also for my customers and their dogs,” said Brittany Bang, owner of Audrey’s Pet Supply. “There are hundreds of ‘good’ dog treats out there but none are the total package like the Goodness Gracious line. Not only has Goodness Gracious created a treat that consists of yummy, human grade quality ingredients that dogs go crazy over, but they’ve also built a business by giving back 51% of their profits to animal rescue work… It truly is a win win!” Bang continued.
Having a big, positive impact on a neglected animal’s life doesn’t cost much. According to the ASPCA’s website (aspca.org) you can feed a needy dog or cat for less than $1 per day and vaccinate one for $3.50. With the donations from Goodness Gracious, the Animal Rescue League of Boston was able to aid hundreds.
“We are honored to have a friend like Audrey’s owner Brittany Bang who shares our commitment to rescuing homeless animals,” said Animal Rescue League (ARL) of Boston Adoption Manager Marianne Gasbarro. “Audrey’s routinely supports us by featuring our adoptable animals, and by holding special in-store adoption days and promotions that benefit our Adoption Center,” Gasbarro explains. “Audrey’s Pet Supply also stocks Goodness Gracious treats and has selected our shelter to receive the 51% give back that Goodness Gracious generously donates. Our partnership is a great example of how we can make a real difference in the lives of animals on the local level.”
Goodness Gracious’ partnership with Audrey’s and ARL Boston isn’t the only success story. Through sales made at Parker’s Pets (parkersnaturals.com) in Chicago, Goodness Gracious supports Chicago’s non-profit Trio Animal Foundation (trioanimalfoundation.org). In New York, the Putnam County Humane Society (puthumane.org) is supported by Goodness Gracious sales at Reigning Dogs and Cats Too. PAWS New England (pawsnewengland.com) which rescues dogs out of a high kill shelter in rural Tennessee and places them in homes throughout New England is supported by Goodness Gracious sales at the Natural Dog (thenaturaldog.us) in Newburyport, MA and Especially for Pets (especiallyforpets.com) Massachusetts stores. So is the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society (mrfrs.org). And there are many more stories like these.
“Having Goodness Gracious treats for sale at Audrey’s is such a no brainer,” said Bang. “We try to support animal rescue work at our shop as much as possible and by selling Goodness Gracious treats we are able to help shelters in our community. More companies should follow their business model and give back where they can. When customers hear that 51% of the profits of Goodness Gracious treats go back to helping animal rescue work within our community it is such a natural reaction for them to want to purchase the treats. Customers know not only will their dog be getting a treat with the finest quality ingredients they also know it is money very well spent.” she continued.
Goodness Gracious products can be found in retail stores in MA, NH, ME, RI, CT, NY, NJ, IL, IN and WI and online at http://www.GoodnessGraciousTreats.com. A partial list of the charities Goodness Gracious supports also can be found online at http://www.goodnessgracioustreats.com/id68.html.

Dog ‘Asbos’ Move in Right Direction but Far from Enough Says London Animal Rescue
The Mayhew Animal Home in North West London welcomed news that Scottish legislation is to soon bring in a crack down on irresponsible owners through the Control of Dogs Bill, but says much more still needs to be done and soon by our current government.
(PRWeb UK) January 12, 2011
The Mayhew believes that only an effective registration system for dog owners will be enough to start to put an end to the to the issues of irresponsible pet ownership, over-breeding, unregulated pet sales and the mis-use of dogs for anti-social behaviour, which are already at crisis levels.
The Mayhew’s CEO, said: “Dog Asbos” may help with specific cases in the short-term, but society needs to look at the root causes of these issues and bring in measures that would preclude the necessity of such control orders. There are quite simply too many dogs and not enough responsible owners and until the breeding of and access to dogs is significantly curtailed, I’m afraid we will not see a huge change.”
What MP’s need to take on board and implement, in brief:
* A repeal of breed specific legislation
* Introduction of a registration package for responsible dog ownership, which should include animals being neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated, insured and their welfare checked regularly.
* Tighter regulations placed on the trade in animals from pet shops, on the Internet and other forms of media, with priority given to the stricter monitoring of both registered and “backstreet” breeders.
* Government/local councils to invest in designated and trained personnel, such as Animal Welfare Officers, who can work alongside animal welfare charities, both with local residents and pet owners to prevent further escalation of this crisis and make our communities safer for animals and people alike.
* Government to consider funding neutering programmes, which presently many animal welfare charities strive to fund themselves with extremely limited resources

Train Your Dog The Easy And Fun Way! |
The thing is strange. You install the 9v battery and turn it on.
You expect to see a light or hear something, but you don’t.
My dog, Max, heard it and stopped barking!
My sceptical husband, Terry, saw it happen THREE times that Max
was barking his head off and stopped JUST when I turned the tool on-but
he just doesn’t believe that it can possibly work.
Hmmm…coincidence or really working?
I vote that it works.
Check it out for yourself here.
At some point in your life, chances are that you had a pet of some kind, right? Even if it was something as simple as a goldfish or even an ant farm, you know what it’s like bring a pet home, to watch over it and take care of it. And even if you didn’t grow up to be the pet type, it’s a good bet that you have friends or family members that have them.
Being that pets are so important to so many people, doesn’t it just make sense that they should be treated with the same attention and care as any other member of the family? There are a select few pet owners that already do this and is most commonly seen with cats and dogs. When you think about it, treating a pet like a family member is instinctual to some; this could be why some married couples try out having a pet before deciding to have children. There is a sense of raising the pet as it grows and learning the responsibility that comes with it.
Check out We Love Pets!
Everybody loves to have fun for Halloween and occasionally we need to include our pets in our festivities, nevertheless we ought to be cautious due to the reality our pets may perhaps be “spooked” by all of the noises, unusual costumes too as site visitors arriving to the front doorway. Halloween night has the greatest incidence relating to misplaced canine, injuries from car accidents, injuries to kids from puppy bites and accidental pet poisonings than any other holiday. You are responsible with regard to controlling your puppy and protecting him or her from escape or biting the tiny ghouls and goblins that come knocking at your doorway.
Some dogs just get as well thrilled by the frequent guests ringing the entrance bell. Practice ringing the entrance bell with some neighbor youngsters so the puppy can get utilized for the entrance bell. If your canine gets as well thrilled and tries to bolt out the door, plan ahead and have a secure spot ready inside the back bedroom to house your pet until the festivities are via. Double check to create certain your pet sports his id tag or is micro-chipped in situation he should bolt out the doorway and get misplaced.
Costumes could be frightening for animals, as well, each on the pet or on individuals. Be mindful that your pet may be frightened and may make an effort to bite the stranger inside the costume. Some canines may not recognize an individual having a mask or big hat, even if the dog is around that individual on a typical basis, and this may possibly confuse your canine or set off territorial instincts which can lead to unintentional puppy bites. My private puppy Jake, didn’t like the “Beast’ that swallowed my son and attempted his truly finest to yank the costume off him. We had to take our son and his costume in a bag to his pals residence to alter and go trick or treating. We also attempted to put a costume on Jake, and he did not tolerate that properly either. Some dogs adore it and some puppies loathe it.
Should you wish to dress up your personal puppy for Halloween, make positive your canine is comfy at all occasions. Do not use any dog costumes that use rubber bands or can constrict circulation or breathing. Be careful for any poisonous paints or dyes. You may well will need to dress him up several days earlier to obtain him employed to the idea as opposed to waiting for Halloween when all of the excitement is at its highest. Usually do not leave your pet unattended with the outfit on. He may probably attempt to chew it off and can choke on it which may possibly lead to an obstruction inside his intestinal tract. In case your puppy is uncomfortable in the dog costume in any way, get a fast picture, then let him “Trick or Treat” in his “birthday suit”.
When your youngster returns with their goody bag, be certain to place the treats far out of reach of your canine. Chocolate, raisins, xylitol (sugar substitute in sugarfree candy) and macadamia nuts are toxic to canines. Dogs are known to seek out the sweet on tables and counters and eat all of the sweet; wrappers, sticks and all. Also, watch your own deal with dish. An unguarded bowl with treats is tempting to your canine. Absolutely nothing ruins a Halloween festivity than a trip to the animal emergency clinic having a sick pet.
Halloween may possibly be enjoyable for you and your dog having a small preparation and safeguarding your dog against escape, injury to himself or others and accidental poisoning.
Every day we hear more about the new “hybrid” dogs, or “designer” dogs. Each feature is accompanied by pictures of adorable puppies that are examples of this new “breed.”
Of course they’re cute! All puppies are! Should you pay hundreds, and in some cases, thousands of dollars for one? Certainly not! The offspring of a mating between two purebred dogs of different breeds is a mongrel, a mutt. And if you have one, you should love it, train it and care for it as if it had the bluest blood of the canine kingdom.
Every dog breed, and there are hundreds in the world, was “created” by humans. Each breed was developed for a specific purpose – whether that original job was guarding the flock or being the ideal lap-dog. There’s no reason that development shouldn’t continue. If there is a need for a dog with particular characteristics, enterprising individuals will come forward to fill that need.
However, it takes many generations to “breed true.” Compare yourself to your siblings. Do you all have the same looks, same personality, same interests and strengths? Chances are, you don’t. Each of you has some of the “best” traits of your parents. But those may not be the same traits. And each of you has some of the worst.
Two of the best-known mixed-breeds out there now are the “Golden Doodle” and the “Puggle.” The thinking behind these crosses is fairly obvious: wouldn’t it be nice to have a Golden Retriever’s personality and willingness to please combined with the Poodle’s non-shedding coat and intelligence? Wouldn’t it be equally delightful to have a small dog without the breathing issues of a Pug, but quieter than a Beagle?
But there is no way of knowing you won’t get a high-strung, noisy, stubborn, slobbering mutt who sheds like the dickens!
If you are considering spending the kind of money that these “hybrids” are commanding, be sure to research all of the traits of the contributing breeds. You will get a mixture of the two. And an equally adorable mixture may be waiting for you at your local shelter – the size you want, with the coat you want and the adorable face that melts your heart.
If you require certain characteristics in your puppy – whether a family member has allergies, or you have a very small, or no yard, or your household requires a quiet, “easy keeper,” or if you wish to fully participate in the world of canine competition, consider a pure-bred animal. There are over 150 breeds recognized by the American Kennel Club. Research them at www.akc.org. Surely one of them is right for you.
